Oasis Counselor

Karen Spruill received her Master of Arts degree in Community Counseling from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. She previously held a Limited License in Psychology in Michigan where she practiced with children and adults for about five years. Karen is currently a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern and a member of the American Counseling Association.
 
Karen has almost 14 years of experience in providing support and therapy groups. She has served as co-leader for WINGS, a support group for women survivors of abuse and intimate partner violence, for five years. Previously she worked as a legal advocate for a domestic violence shelter and served on the Lake Union Conference Abuse Taskforce.
 
Karen has combined her background in communications and her knowledge of mental health in her writing/editing career for magazines and on-line articles, as well as two books, The Making of a Mother and A Survivor’s Guide to Breast Cancer.

 
 
Karen worked as the Small Groups Coordinator at Florida Hospital Church from 2000-2003. She has served as an SDA elder in several churches, and she currently teaches in the Women of the Word adult Sabbath School classShe has been married for 34 years to her husband, Timothy, and they have two adult married children.
