Service: No Pecking Order
March 28, 2015
Jesus made it really simple when he said, “Gentiles lord it over the people they rule, and great men exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you.” This isn’t a text for church workers, but for all Christ’s followers. We are called to serve and love. When we are filled with love, we will do mundane, ordinary, trivial duties and not give it a thought because of the love for those we serve. “The flesh whines against service but screams against hidden service.” When we choose to be a servant, we give up the rights to be in charge . . . we become available and vulnerable. There are nearly limitless ways to serve once we choose the servant’s role.
