It is a story as old as time – a young man comes into his own knowing all the answers to life. Then life and his humanity mix and things get out of focus, then twisted and finally ruined. Solomon is the prodigal who had everything until he wandered away from God. When he found his way back as an old man, he discovered his answers no longer worked. How does the author of an ancient advice column like Proverbs come to say in Ecclesiastes that life and work and wisdom are all a meaningless chasing after wind? As he speaks to us out of his brokenness, does he have anything left to offer?
