Submission: I Don’t Have to Get My Way
February 28, 2015
We live in a self-focused, self-elevating, self-seeking world. One thing all humans have in common is that we love to get our own way. It is nearly unfathomable for most people to think about having the opportunity to get their way and then voluntarily passing that opportunity by. However, the call of Christ is a call to give up our rights for the good of others. We have the privilege of practicing self-denial to remind us that we do not have to have our own way and that our happiness is not dependent on getting what we want. The life of the Christian is a call to a life practice of mutual submission. Practicing this discipline will stretch us beyond our comfort zones. Matthew 23:8-10, Philippians 2:4-7, 1Peter 2:21-23.
