The Reason We’re Here: Children as the Apple of God’s Eye

September 12, 2015

In the search for positions of influence and power, human beings become blinded to those around them – especially children. Children continue to suffer the consequences of the search for power and influence by suffering the worst outcomes, debilitating their life chances and limiting their full potential. But Jesus shows us a better way. He welcomed the weakest and most marginalized—the children—to teach us that they are the “apple of his eye.” The highest and most important calling and purpose for the church is the issue that tugs at the heart of God most intimately and affectionately—what happens to the “little ones” in our midst. Mark 9:33-41, Mark 10:13-16.
