We Are One Body

October 3, 2015

The Lord’s Supper. We call it Communion, but what do we mean? Are we just mimicking what Jesus and the disciples did the night before the crucifixion? Are we just doing it by rote because Jesus commanded us to? Is it just a symbol, or is it more than that? As we proverbially “eat of one loaf and drink from one cup,” how is this a symbol of our unity with Christ, and if we are united in communion with him, are we in communion with his entire body? How is this both inclusive and exclusive, and why is it important today?
